This January, snap on your jockstrap and grab your balls because Sin City Classic is returning to Las Vegas. Billed as the largest annual LGBTQ+ athletics event in the world, SCC boasts over 8,000 queer competitors participating in 24 separate sports, including wrestling, dodgeball, and ultimate frisbee. And not only do these muscle-bound bromos work hard, but they also play hard. So after showering off the sweaty smell of victory, run a lap around Las Vegas’ iconic “Fruit Loop” and indulge in some debauchery.
Loop de Loop
The epicenter of Vegas’ gay nightlife sits at the intersection of East Naples Drive and Paradise Road, affectionately dubbed the “Fruit Loop.” These cross streets are home to a hattrick of LV’s most prominent LGBTQ establishments, each offering its own unique vibe, as well as Sin City weekend event options for locals and out-of-town competitors alike.
Go Fish, Bish
Piranha is arguably the most mainstream of the Fruit Loop troika, and visiting athletes will likely feel right at home in this clubhouse for Vegas’ muscle twunks. The bar serves as a venue for a doubleheader of official Sin City events, starting Friday’s Score! Party, featuring the talents of DJ Chris Tavi, DJ V, DJ J. Diesel, RPDR alum Lady Camden, and of course the Pirahna go-gos. Then after another afternoon of stiff competition, a round of stiff drinks is in order, so strip down to your skivvies for Saturday’s Jock Party.
Zone Defense
For a more casual option, cross the street and slide into Freezone. Indulge in $5 drink specials at DTF Juke Box Sundays, and Sin City wrestlers who had to cut down for their weigh-in can catch up on their caloric intake with a nosh from their classic bar menu.
Work Your Quad(z) Muscles
For those who never quit competing, consider hitting up QUADZ, the Fruit Loop’s friendly neighborhood video and gaymer bar. There aren’t any special events scheduled for SIn City weekend, but this dirty desert dive is open 24/7. So you can crush a cocktail while dominating at darts or pwning a jabrone on the pool table all night long.
Silver Linings Gay Book
The Fruit Loop has more to offer than just bars and nightclubs. For bromos who like contact sports, take that aggressive energy off the field and into the boudoir. Your best bet for snatching some quality SMBD supplies is to hit up Get Booked. Since 1993, this booty boutique has specialized in nipple suckers, ball stretchers, cock cages, and other fetish items for queer kinksters looking for intense intimacy.
Drag Strip
While the Fruit Loop serves as Vegas’ gay hub, it’s worth mentioning there are queer entertainment options on the iconic “Strip” as well, starting at the Sin City host hotel Flamingo. Since 2020, this resort has served as the venue for RuPaul’s Drag Race LIVE!, featuring Eureka O’Hara, Jaida Essence Hall, Plastique Tiara, and Trinity K Bonet. Warning, the show is dark until January 19th, so if you don’t want to miss the 2023 debut of this drag spectacle plan on staying the full week.
Queer Carbo Loading
Athletes who have been carb-starving themselves for the past few weeks of training can finally binge on some comfort food. For an indulgent twist on traditional American fare hit up Holsteins and ruin those abs on specialty burgers, house-made sausage, and a wide variety of shakes and sides.
Gluttonous star-f*ckers have a couple of options for a nosh and some name-dropping. Vanderpump à Paris is a faux-Francophilic culinary venture from the titular reality TV fruit fly. And for the preppier palate, lifestyle guru/convicted felon Martha Stewart has opened The Bedford, her very first restaurant. Endeavoring to provide a homey yet affluent atmosphere, the menu features buckwheat crepes, oysters Rockefeller, and Niçoise salad. And if you are lucky, you may spot Martha’s former Potluck Dinner Party co-host and fellow brownie connoisseur Snoop Dogg paying a visit.
