Le Fou Frog Restaurant in Kansas City

A true bistro in every sense -- a warm atmosphere, but not too fancy. A large and varied menu from foie gras to creme brulee. The menu is written in French on a chalkboard, so you must ask the waiter what everything is. But the food is great and the service pleasant.

A great atmosphere (though a little loud sometimes) with candles and often live music, wonderful wine and cocktail menu, delicous hearty entrees. The macaroni and cheese is famous.

Karoke, pool, friendly bartenders. And you can smoke there!
Sharp's 63rd Street Grill Restaurant in Kansas City

This is truly a gay-friendly restaurant. It has a wonderful selection of martinis and a great menu of lower priced entrees. You can eat in the very popular and noisy bar area, or at a more private table in the dining room. The Sunday brunch is popular, but don't expect anything more than your standard breakfast menu, adequately prepared. It's a great place to drink and eat without spending too much money, though after a few martinis, you may do that anyway.
Cafe Sebastienne Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art Restaurant in Kansas City

The cafe serves a delicous variety of food from soups and salads to sandwiches and pizzas. Situated in the middle of an art museum, there is a lot to look at, but it can be quite loud in the boomy artium where the food is eaten. A great place for lunch date. Dinner is only served on Friday and Saturday, but there are better choices if you are looking for a more inviting outing.
Blue Bird Bistro Restaurant in Kansas City

Somewhere along the line in the pursuit of organic food, free-range hormone-free meats, artisan cheeses, and locally-grown produce, taste and service were lost. While the ideals of the Blue Bird are noble, the food is flavorless, and the service is blase. Avoid at all costs.

Sidestreet Bar Bar/Club in Kansas City

Yes, it's true this bar desparately needs a make-over, but despite the decor and pricey drinks, it's still a lot of fun. Hunky bartenders and a new play spave in the basement encourage the leather crowd.

Very casual bar with a great view from the outdoor patio. Home-cooked meals served Friday nights.

Don't go here for the food, go for the cocktails adn the trendy people watching. They serve food only during limited hours, with a small selection of mainly appetizers.
