Don't freak about the line to get in
ACME Oyster House is a local institution. There is always a line on the street to get in - but it moves fast. Sit at the bar and have a dozen raw oysters and a fried shrimp po-boy. We hit it a least twice on every trip.
At the vortex of gay nightlife in NOLA
The corner of Bourbon and St Ann is the spot for gay nightlife in the Quarter. Oz - a bit younger crowd - is directly across the street so you can cruse from the opposing balconies. A good mix of people - we're in our 40s and feel right at home. The place to be during Decadence.
Great inexpensive food near the bars
EAT, which opened about a year ago, has great inexpensive food and is near the bar scene. We try to hit it for lunch or dinner every time we're in town. Portions are large. Try the shrimp & grits.
