Must-visit
I visited this place for the first time recently and it was a highlight. There were so many wonderful choices for interesting ethnic foods and beverages, plus it provided an exceptional locale for people watching.
L.A.'s most colorful Mexican restaurant
This is the only place in the city where you can have an authentic Mexican meal, kick-ass margaritas and then wander into the basement and see a musical about Karen Carpenter, in which she's played by a man.
L.A.'s best movie theater
Except for the private studio theaters, the Arclight, with comfortable assigned seating and digital sound and projection, is the best place to see a movie in L.A. They also offer adults-only screenings of certain films for people who find children annoying.
Delicious Italian cuisine
This is an ideal place to have a bite and a glass of wine before seeing a show.
comfort food par excellence
There's no better place to stop by after a long night in the Quarter than this trusty restaurant with the friendly waitstaff and delicious, absorbent comfort. You can't visit New Orleans without at least one meal here.
The Grande Dame of the Quarter
Even if you can't stay at this amazingly beautiful hotel, you owe it to yourself to stop in for a drink at the famed Carousel bar, which was a favorite for many beloved writers including Capote and Williams.
Full of knockouts
Probably the most attractive crowd on any random afternoon in Chelsea. The wait staff is friendly, the music is great and the pizza is quite delicious, as well.
Sunday Time Travel
Sunday afternoon happy hour at The Monster is like traveling back in time. Terrific DJs such as Lady Bunny play a variety of '70s dance favorites and it's a blast to just sip a cocktail and watch men of a certain age take over the dance floor and relive their glory days at Studio 54.
