Stay away from this place if you are a tourist
I went to have a beer with a friend, who was visiting from Swden and likes this type of bars and probably I will never go back. The bartenders are rude and arrogant, even more so if you are a tourist. We were taken aback by the level of hostility of one of the bartenders when we ordered a second round of beers in English...then he was making fun of us with other bartenders and some clients because of our conversation in German..to which my friend (who speaks five languages and works as an interpreter at the European Union in Brussels) replied in perfect French and ask the guy to stop being so fucking obnoxious...we left immediately...no tip...never comig back
As gay as Disneyland
This is supposed to be the hottest "gay" club in Winnipeg...not quite...the crowd is made up mostly by boys and girls in their 20's or barely legal who gather to get plastered and dance, 5 $ cover charge...lots of pop and house music, open spaces and dancing, that's all....no dark corner to make out a little, no porno videos, no cruising atmosphere...no gayness at all
Friendly atmosphere...no strippers
All I saw was a bunch of drag queens and a contest named "Drag race" with a cash prize of 100 $....there's a small stage for pole dancing but there were no dancers even if it was around midnight..the restaurant section as there but it was closed
You can have it both ways
This is one of the best sex clubs I have been to in Canada...it's a mixed sauna so hetero couples, lesbians, gay guys and whatever is left come to enjoy and have sex. There are three floors full of lust. The basement has a small theater, plenty of space to play, glory holes and the famous "cake", a piece of furniture that looks like a cake where couples have sex and share it with many others, the first floor with rooms, dry sauna and a steam room...the third floor with another small movie room and the the bedrooms where couples play. The entire place is extremely clean, and the staff at the reception very friendly...the crowd is a motley crew yet everybody is polite and respectful, gay guys play in the basement and frequently straight couples with a penchant for exhibitionism will come to play on the "cake" and share their passion with others..lots of slurping, moans and groans...you can have it all....fish and steak, if you know what I mean
Meh...
The place is impeccably clean and the staff if very friendly...not to big either. The crowd is made up mostly by closeted guys and grandpas who go just to watch porno videos..not much action either..
Nice place...not so many guys
The only gay sauna in Winnipeg, since the other one is coed now...very clean, small, has a nice jacuzzi but not that much action. It's a bit far from downtown so you'll have to take a bus or a cab to get there
Nah...go somewhere else
The place is new, very nice and very clean, but the staff is RUDE and HOSTILE, especially if they hear an English/American accent, the guy with the beard at the reception can be a little asshole. The crowd is ok, a bit "pijos" since the admission fee is 16 euros and not many people in Spain can afford to go since most of people have really low salaries. Bring your own condoms.
Not really
I think not.... I went last week, ordered a hot chocolate..they brought the order about 15 minutes later, and it was warm, almost cold...I ask the waitress to replace it since I had ordered HOT chocolate and she took it back, stuck it in the microwave...and voila..."hot" chocolate...never, ever again....
Thanks but no thanks
I still remember this place...dirty as hell, lots of scruffy guys and lots of unprotected, which equals to collective suicide since Ft. Lauderdale is one of the cities with really high HIV rates in the US...just saying.
Mediocre place, rude staff...crappy crowd
Don't bother...it is full of sissy guys in their 20's who think they will be 20 forever...lots of attitude from customers and the staff...some male hustlers and coke sniffers..the showers and the steam room smell like pee...and the dry sauna reeks...the hot tub...I don't dare to get in there...I might end up with a STD
Good stuff, friendly staff....
And video cabins in the basement....visited by married, closeted, or older guys looking for a quick BJ
Expensive and boring
This is reportedly the oldest sauna in Montreal...guess what...it is. It looks old, frozen in the 40's . The staff is rude, the crowd is made up with closeted guys from eastern Europe and Arabs who exchange massages among themselves...and now and then a horny older guy who comes here because doesn't know about other saunas or because he's simply used to come to this place. It's far away from any Metro station so you'll have to take a bus or walk to get here, and the neighborhood looks really run down. Don't bother....
It has changed for the better, I guess
This place changed ownership, I assume recently, and the changes have been total. It´s actually very clean, the reception staff is very friendly, they installed a new dry sauna on the first floor and added a hot tub which they keep clean, new lockers, better use of the space and free condoms and lube everywhere. They even added free WiFi and the receptionist will be happy to give you the password. I visited last week and was positively impressed, they have done a very good job and it´s differently from the dump it used to be, however, the crowd it attracts is the same, barebackers, junkies, crackheads and guys in their 40´s and 50´s who believe they are still 20...I was there recently and some guys were snorting coke and some were doing crack on the 3rd floor.
It's OK
This used to be one of the best health clubs in Montreal, but since they decided to focus their marketing efforts on McGill U. students the place has gone to sh*t. The steam room at the men' s spa doesn't work, the hot tub looks dirty and its either too hot or too cold, the water looks slimy. People complain about lockers being force opened and having stuff stolen. There is no security whatsoever here. The Indian guy who cleans the locker rooms thinks he owns the place has a serious behavior problem towards the customers, and the manager seems to be totally unqualified for the job. The locker rooms always smell awful and several times I have found used condoms strewn all over. the floor...I have no problem with two men having sex, but they should do their thing in a more appropriate place. Needless to say that La Cite is known in the gay community as a very cruisy gym...just don't do your thing in the showers or locker room.
It´s the attitude, it´s the rude staff...it´s both
Decent food...a bit over-priced and crappy customer service. The place is located in the gay Village so you can expect lots of attitude from the staff. One of the owners (I guess) waits on tables as if he hated his job. Don't even dare to say a word in English or you will have to face the consequences, so if you are a tourist and do not speak perfect French you might want to go and spend your money somewhere else but here. The are plenty of places in Montreal where to eat good food, with reasonable prices, decent customer service and where you can speak the international language and the other official language of Canada.....that means ENGLISH.
Probably the only decent gay sauna in MTL
This seems to be the only decent sauna in Montreal, even if the staff is normally rude to the customers, especially if you do not speak French. Other than that is clean, decent crowd, mostly over 40, lots of married guys, retirees, and now and then a young guy. They could do a better job with the jacuzzi, sometimes the water is smelly and gunky. Its right between Metro Beaudry (Gay Village) and Metro Papineau.
