JJK: DJ Escape, you know exactly what gay boys want to hear. How is it that you’re so in synch with our community?
DJE: Well, I have been going out to and playing gay parties since 1997. So I know what makes the dance floor move.
JJK: Where have you been recently?
DJE: Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis, Montreal, Miami, Orlando, Boston just to name a few. I am getting ready to start my spring Global Groove Tour which will take me to- Pittsburgh, Miami, LA, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Raleigh, Boston, Vancouver, Belo Horizonte, Atlanta, Cincinnati, & Dallas. So I will be pretty busy on the road 🙂
JJK: Favorite club in the world?
DJE: Stereo Montreal
JJK: Runner up?
DJE: The Week Rio de Janeiro; Parking Montreal
JJK: What about the club scene in New York? Now that the Roxy’s gone, it’s hard to find a good place to get a little crazy. Maybe someone will kick all the NYU kids living in the old Palladium building out and bring it back.
DJE: The club scene is back in NY. The place to go on Saturday nights is Club 57 @ Providence. Brandon Voss & Tony Fornabio throw the party and I play there once a month. There are also other parties that go on monthly. So NY has many things now.
JJK: Inspiration?
DJE: Well, it all started by going out to hear Junior Vasquez. That’s how I got my start and knew that this is what I wanted to do. Other DJ’s that inspire are Victor Calderone, Danny Tenaglia, Peter Rauhofer, Hex Hector, Eric Morillo, Steve Lawler & Pete Tong
