Named after Broken Hill -- the remote town where it takes place -- Broken Heel happens to be Australia's top spring festival. There's plenty of food, fêtes, and fanciful garments to admire as you wander through this Priscilla Queen of the Desert-esque fantasy.

What: This destination event happens every year on the theatrical anniversary of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. As you can imagine, this translates to lots of fabulous drag parties, dances, spectacles, and parades. Truly, Broken Heel is a bucket list festival for many queer Australians. Who: Broken Heel attracts a diverse crowd that includes bio queens, drag kings, showgirls, alt-queens, and more. It truly takes all kinds.

Where: Though not on many queens' bucket lists, Broken Hill offers plenty of stunning desert scenery for you to gawk at. Hotels book up fast, so make sure to find something at the Ibis or the Imperial ASAP.
