To paraphrase the old adage, this March in Miami will come in like a lion and out like a lamb (or bear, or otter, or however one identifies.) This year, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau is launching Rainbow Spring, a series of LGBTQ+ events leading up to Pride month in June. For homo-snowbirds looking to thaw out from this winter’s polar vortexes, we’ve shined a light on this prism of pre-Pride events Rainbow Spring has to offer. Taste the rainbow (with the rainbow’s consent, of course)
Winter Party Festival (March 1-7)
Kick off the pre-Pride season with this weeklong celebration of queer music, dancing, and community, starting with the Thursday night IGNITE party at Exchange Miami. The event raises money for the National LGBTQ+ Task Force so you can party with a purpose.
Miami Beach Pride (April 1-16)
Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, this commemoration of the historic Stonewall Riots will include the traditional weekend-long Pride festival in Lummus Park and its accompanying parade down Ocean Drive.
OUTshine Film Festival (April 20-30)
For queer partiers looking to avoid Coachella, indulge in some cinephilia at this LGBTQ+ film festival, featuring the ‘Cocktails and Cinema’ screening of In From The Side. When an injured player from the A-team is selected to play with the Bs as part of his recovery, initial suspicion turns to physical lust for two of the team members. Gayme on!
SweetHeat Miami (May 13-22)
For a focus on females, fly down to Florida for this celebration of DJ darlings, including Benzo, Ari Kari, and Glamzontay. This weekend of femme fierceness begins with the Fresh Air party at Brick.
Sizzle Miami (May 25-29)
One of the country’s most celebrated and anticipated urban LGBTQ+ events is back in Greater Miami & Miami Beach this Memorial Day weekend, featuring the Soak Him Pool Party at host hotel The Marseille.
