GayCities iPhone app: Mapping the whole gay world

In the year since we launched the GayCities iPhone app, people like you have opened it millions of times all over the world. We’re amazed at the number of places where people looked for great places to go, stay and eat. So we thought it would be fun to create a map of all that fabulous gay activity – all the places where you pulled it out (the app) to see what’s nearby.  (The larger the orange dots, the larger the usage.)

We were happy, but not surprised, to see you using the app to navigate the big North American destinations. What surprised us is that you showed up, app in hand, in some pretty, well, unusual places as well. We never would have guessed activity in, say, the Sudan or even Baghdad, which gives us hope for the fledgling democracy there after all.

And why not? There is demand everywhere. Gay men and lesbians have always been connoisseurs of great experiences, from where to shop for the latest fashions to the world’s hottest clubs. In our ceaseless mission to map the greatest places around the world, we have created a kind of digital gaydar to help you along the way, locating the closest places where we gays like to go.

And, the GayCities iPhone App is about to get even better. Stay tuned for news…
