Oklahoma may not be the first state that comes to mind when you think of the LGBTQ+ community, but there are plenty of hubs and safe spaces to enjoy, not to mention two separate Pride celebrations!
The 39th Street entertainment district of Oklahoma City is home to a slew of queer clubs and gay-friendly bars. With some of the city’s best restaurants and performing venues, this eclectic neighborhood has a lot to offer. Here are a few favorites to check out next time you pass through.
Angles

As one of Oklahoma’s most celebrated gay clubs, Angles has a lot going on. Offering weekly karaoke hosted by talented local queens and great drink specials, this sprawling venue is always packed. Sexy hunks populate the dance floor, and wild theme nights ensure that there’s never a dull moment.
Frankie’s OKC
This amazing little dive is a local favorite. It has a large floor for drag entertainers and friendly folk in the audience. During the warmer months, grab a beer and head out to the grassy outdoor patio for some sunshine and great conversation. The Boom
Drag, dinner theater, trivia, and tacos! It would be easier to list what isn’t happening at The Boom. This wickedly fun venue hosts talented local performers strutting their stuff and brings the LGBTQ+ community together for a good laugh. The shows are energetic and fun, and the food is stellar!
Tramps
For over 40 years, this unassuming dive has been hosting dart tournaments and slingin’ unpretentious drinks. Locals love the relaxed and casual atmosphere; the bartenders will ensure you have a great time. During the summer, enjoy the enormous outdoor patio with a cold beer.

Drag bingo, anyone? Head down to Phoenix Rising for a night of neighborhood LGBTQ+ love. This local watering hole hosts its’ famous Gender Bender Lipstick Review every week. It also offers themed parties, soirees, and holiday spectaculars, so make sure to check Facebook so you don’t miss all the fun!
