Mariah Carey was today announced as one of the headline act for this year’s Pride Brighton & Hove festival. It follows the news yesterday that Pussycat Dolls would also be appearing.
The festival, which lies on the South Coast of England (around an hour from London by train), features a “Fabulosa”-themed parade and Pride In The Park festival. The festival runs July 31 to August 2, 2020, with the parade on Saturday, August 1, and park entertainment on Saturday-Sunday, August 1-2.
This will be the festival’s 30th anniversary
Pride Brighton and Hove is one of the biggest Pride festivals in the UK, and in recent years it has earned a reputation for booking high-profile acts. Previous headliners have included Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue.

Although it’s free to watch the parade, entrance to the Preston Park festival is ticketed, with admission prices starting at around £27.50 for a single-day entrance ($36). A joint ticket for Saturday and Sunday starts at £47.50 ($62). Many of the cheaper ticket options have already sold out, and the headliners’ announcement will likely see the rest of the tickets snapped up quickly.
Besides the park, there will also be places to enjoy Pride for free, with the Pride Pleasure Gardens at the city’s historic Old Steine area, among many other activities.
A non-profit organization, Pride Brighton & Hove routinely gives hundreds of thousands of pounds after each festival to LGBTQ causes. In late 2019, it was able to give just over $280,000 to local LGBTQ causes.
Although news the Pussycat Dolls would perform on Sunday 2nd was announced yesterday, organizers broke the news about Mariah Carey performing the Saturday slot this morning. They’re promising both acts will deliver full, 75-minute shows each.
Yesterday, Nicole Scherzinger tweeted she was “so excited” to be playing the festival. Pussycat Dolls only recently reformed and this will be their first-ever Pride appearance in the UK. Mariah Carey also took to Instagram to share the news of her appearance.
