Gay Saturdays
Great new 'gay' space particularly on Saturdays, although it's gay friendly all the time. (And it appears to be trying to get a Friday thing going too). Its a multi-level place. Don't miss the 2nd floor if its open, nor the bathroom bar in the basement. (Guy's there are more than just stalls - the urinals are down the hallway in the middle of all the doors - you don't have to wait to pee!). The sound system is probably the loudest I've ever heard at a club, so bring your earplugs. They do the whole unnecessary velvet rope thing, but it's not too pretentious.
Temporarily closed until Nov 2010
A heavy downpour flooded 1181 in late September and has caused it to close until November (according to the sign on its door). It's a great place and when it re-opens you should check it out. More of a Stand and Model crowd, but friendly. And very friendly servers.
Great if you like young sloppy drunk straight girls
I've really tired to like Celebrities, but I just can't. Now that the Odyssey is gone, I want to give it a second chance, but I'm not sure I can. Music is hit or miss, and there is always a bevy of sloppy drunk straight girls pushing you out of the way to and from the dance floor or bar. It's actually not too bad of a space (except for that support beam right in the middle of the dance floor) and the bar area is quite spacious.
A good place, but losing it's kitschy edge.
Although P-House is still a fun place to go and dance and be entertained, it's starting to get long in the tooth. Now 'age' is part of this places charm/character in terms of decor and facility, but everthing else is starting to age too - including it's clientle, servers, dancers. As long standing gay bars go, this one is in the downward slope of it's relevancy cycle. Hopefully, it will peak once again - it just needs an injection of youth. Oh, and a few truckloads of gravel to fill in the swimming pool potholes in the back parking lot.
