    What a dump!

I was really expecting something decent after reading all these glowing reviews. I was surprised at how run down the place is; its long overdue for painting and freshening up. Also both dance floors were mediocre at best and the sound systems weren't very good. The whole place reminded me of a basement rec room. It's one of those places where they make carts of money but don't give anything back to the patrons for their bucks.

    Not all that

The drinks are really expensive, I guess because there is no cover. However at $9 for a double, one would expect to be able to taste the alcohol. The music is just blaring on the weekends and the sound system isn't all that. The DJs are uninspired and there is an air of preteniousness amongst the staff and the regulars. Guess I'll just give it a miss in the future. They also let way too many people in and getting past the long bar or even getting a drink becomes a major task!

    Its gone downhill

The have a captive audience as there are so few places to go in Vancouver in the early evening. Over the years they've allowed it to slide; they used to have DJs every Friday and Saturday night and last time I went on a Saturday it was canned music and not even audible just an annoying dinn. The washrooms also needed attention and were kinda stinky. Its definately not a destination for hot men anymore like it was in its heyday about 5 years ago. Its become really tired and needs some new life breathed into it.

Phil please retire and sell the place already!

This bar is exactly the same as it was when it first opened 28 years ago. It was fixed up a few years ago to look exactly the same. They are too cheap to hire decent DJs with taste so every Friday and Saturday night its the same third rate DJ that has no taste in music playing the same crap; year after year. Its worth paying the slightly higher cover charge at The Odyssey or Celebrities or The Majestic; at least there are some attractive gay guys at these places. Bad music is guaranteed. The owner doesn't want to spend any cash so why not sell and let someone else breathe some new life into it?; its a great layout and a waste when there are so few places to go in Vancouver. The previous review was obviously written by one of the staff.
