Spent a night at the Applewood with my boyfriend last summer. Super friendly owners, cozy and comfortable room, quiet grounds, delicious restaurant. Highly recommend.

The Cinch on Friday nights delivers performances way more risque and bizarre than Trannyshack. This really fun weekly party cisalled Charlie Horse at Cinch on Polk St. Crowd ranges from young indie SOMA hipsters, preppy Marina professionals, drag queens, and everyone in between. Gets good around 11pm.

5 mins outside downtown, Caliente is a decent tiki-themed hotel. Nice stay, good value, good location, has a pool. Great place if you're looking for an affordable place to lay your head. LGBT-friendly.
