Pretty old-school city beach. Restaurants, ice cream shop near beach.
This is a nice old city park beach in the Charlotte (stress on second syllable) section of Rochester. There are some restaurants and ice cream shops on the road leading down to the beach. Go for the summer beach wrestling tournament and see great-looking guys wrestling in board shorts.
good equipment, greedy vibe
Good equipment, clean. But this is one of those gyms that's all about selling you contracts. Lots of space upfront devoted to cubicles for salesmen. Rickety bike rack on the side of the building is not anchored to the ground. It falls over bikes and all. Yet there's loads of parking for cars and SUVs. I don't know. This place ain't for me.
nice place to go if you're feelin' low!
Equal grounds is hip, lively and accepting of everybody. Two large rooms, changing artwork on the walls, funky atmosphere. This is a good place to go if you're feeling low and just want to see and hear people around you. The coffee is watery, but it seems that's true all over rochester--odd for a city with so many italians. There are a few tables outside on South Avenue. 666 bar, which is mixed and has a similar friendly hip vibe, is a block and a half north on south. You can walk south on south to the highland park arboretum if you feel energetic.
low key, but still the busiest place in rochester to hang out
Decent place. Can be quiet. Most lively on sunny weekends when people sit out front or across the street on the patio in front of Starry Nights cafe.
