The owner of Boystown’s longtime kinky playground Hydrate has turned up the lights in a new mixology bar right next door. Elixir Lounge promises to bring a much-needed class-act vibe to the gayborhood: comfortable atmosphere, modern decor, expensive cocktails and bartenders with their shirts on (maybe not such a positive).
Opened now for a couple of weeks, Elixir still has lines during the weekend. But that just maybe because the management makes it a priority not to have people crowding the bar. Definitely a welcomed alternative to having to go through a row of Prada model wannabes just for a cocktail at Minibar.
There’s a door connecting Elixir to its older, naughtier cousin but no walk throughs. What can you wear to a sweaty dance club that won’t look awkward at an upscale, lounge-y hotspot anyway?
