Patio Bar
So, every time I have to leave SF for a while... this is the first place I go when I get back. The staff have become friends, the customers have become people I know and expect, and the DOGS!!!! Probably one of the most dog friendly place... and I loves me some four legged furry things!!!! The smoking patio is lovely, usually with sun on one side and shade on the other. All in all it is a mellow bar, with some diverse characters...
Neighborhood Karaoke Bar
My local watering hole... this place has been around for a while, and during the week is pretty "cheers" type environment.... during the weekends its a tossup from a locals Bday Party, some work Party, or a random mass of people who have never been there.... I am not a singer, but can say that most of the regulars and bartenders are typically pretty good (always wondered if that was a requirement to working in a Karaoke Bar?) Oh, and the song books are huge, and a few KJs have their own "secret" song list... Defiantly a place to check out either by your self and make new friends, or with a group (and still make new friends)
Eagle
So, I am a little biased as I play biilards here... but since the remodel this place is nice... the staff is about 80/20 friendly, the rest seem like guys that grew out of the castro, but either on the friendly end or not, they can make a decent drink. There space is large enough for medium/large crowds which is great for me as I tend to get annoyed by packed wall-to-wall, and have found that most SF clubs/bars don't have the space to house the amount of people that try to go... This is a bar set for anyone, but caters more to the "bears/daddies/jean-teeshirt" type guys, but like myself, there are oddities to that, such as pool league or their Gaming Night (probably the youngest group of people to go into Eagle at one time... ) Sunday is probably the only day I don't go but only because it is their busiest day...
Funny Tuesdays
Just went here with a few friends for dinner on Tuesday.... We had some great food, amazing adult drinks (seriously they say adult on them for a reason folks) and a great comedy set lead by San Francisco's own Ronn Vigh.... Each Tuesday Ronn finds about 3 other comedians to share the stage with... a must for locals and something different for tourist...
