At a mere 40 years of age, which I know in "gay years" is considered way past your prime, I feel so ancient far more because of the loss of the places that gave me my identity and all the good times I had that exist now only in memory. I went to The Connection on its final night before closing to build yet another hotel in downtown, but somehow the closing of Tryangles slipped under my radar. I am sitting here in tears typing this. I have never been to Play, Nowhere, Big Bar or Chill Bar, but the number of times I've had too many drinks and gone home with a boy, had a stripper that should have been removing his clothes remove mine instead or gotten a little more "invested" with someone in the backroom at Boots, Tryangles and The Connection since 2000 could likely rivial that same number. I am thankful to these business owners for providing a safe place for everyone, not just the LGBT community, to have a drink and a good time together and maybe I should be just that, thankful for the experiences they allowed us to have and thankful for the memories made there, but it still rips my heart out a bit and makes me nostalgic for what used to be. You will be missed, terribly so, by all of us who got the opportunity to walk through your doors over the years!
