38. Why do they make me do these things.... Pretty much an open book. Make an impression, ask me a question...

    Not impressed...

Visiting from out of state (where I know that my clubs aren't the most upscale) the "regulars" told me to head on over to Axis after my dining experience at either Level or Union. The dress code was lax, the "dance" floor reminded me of a high school cafetorium, and the DJ's were spinning some really wacked out tunes. I mean, while it is a gay club, it doesn't mean we are all rolling on X, the minute we get in. While as a positive, I enjoyed myself in the enclave of the "club within a club" experience. It proved itself to be too small to accomodate any amount of people, as the drag show got under way. To put the icing on the cake, this club catered to an 18 and over crowd!! Not something I was expecting. Oh btw... Where do all of the masculine guys go to hang out? Obviously they seem to overlook this spot. All in all, the club could use a little revamping... Perhaps it's hit or miss on different nights, or times of the year. Might be a nice night to dance the night away, with your drunk buddies (OSU regulars perhaps?), just to pass the time away. But as far as being on the map for a hot night spot, it's just a matter of convenience....

    Off the beaten path....

Although this place is small, and off the beaten path it is a great spot to venture to. The bartender makes awesome drinks, that are priced great and taste amazing. The ambience is lively and upbeat as well. Loved singing the night away, made me feel like I was right at a family BBQ-- in a sense. If you're not into karaoke, I dont suggest you stop by, you may feel awkward. But for everyone else, bring a friend cause the regulars know that this is as much a part of the Hawaii gay circuit as Fusions and Hula's

A trendy spot to be seen....

This is my 3rd time to union, as a visitor from out of state. I have to say that it was quite an enjoyable experience. My latest venture, on a tuesday night-- I encountered the dog tag party (red, yellow, green-- you know the deal) and hundreds of Gay softball players gathering for their World Series event. It was quite invigorating, especially for a week night. The food is great, the music and ambience is awesome as well. The only negative is that some of the drinks are a bit strong.... but unless you're a fan of that, then you'd like it. Lots of eye candy. The patio experience is nice in the daytime, at night it's like being in an ashtray. As the last poster mentioned, this is a great summer hang out, with buddies. If you are the claustrophobic type-- steer cleer of this place after 9pm, it can become a labryinth of people. But pehaps the saying stays true, the more the merrier, right? Too bad this little hot spot it closes @ around 2am....

    Interesting Concept

My friend and I visited a few weeks ago, and I must say it was a pleasant experience. The music/videos were jumping, the food was tasty and moderately priced, and the ambience was inviting. The bar tenders were great with the drinks too-- lots of delightful choices to choose from. This is a place for young hipsters and yuppie professionals-- gay and straight alike, enjoying a nice night on the town. My only negative was the place became a little too full after about 930pm. It could literally use another "level" to balance out the first two. I would recommend bringing a friend or two, as this isn't the venue to make new friends. Lots of neighborhood regulars caught up in their cozy corners. All in all I would definitely visit again. If you make a stop in Colombus and youre a fan of nightlife, you definitely have to check this out!...
