Great patio, good food
The fried green tomatoes were very good as was the chicken tortilla soup. Eggs Benedict were somewhat bland as were the biscuits and gravy - all had to be salted to have any flavor. Shrimp and grits were very tasty as were the breakfast potatoes.
Fun tourist destination, but eat elsewhere
It is worth seeing as the size is impressive, but your local elementary school cafeteria serves better hot dogs and hamburgers. The chili was dry and had a chalky taste? The frozen orange drink was good but not worth seeking out.
Decent accommodations at budget prices
Beware: if you are looking for something modern - this isn't it. My grandparents used to stay here when I was growing up, and the bathrooms haven't changed since then. However, if you are looking for a decent place to stay and you're on a budget then this is the place for you. The Internet is spotty at best and they do charge $8/ day for parking, but it is two blocks from The Plaza. That in itself makes it worth it - and it's less than half the price of all the surrounding hotels. I would say it is gay friendly.
