Nice drinks, beautiful decore, straight friendly
It's not really my sties but I gotta say the bar has mad style. More New York than Mission, I'd say, but whatever. Clientelle are younger professional and uber chic. Music is not your regular electronica that has infected nearly every other gay establishment in the world. It's the kind of place that you'd bring girlfriends, coworkers or your really cool mom to if they have been begging you to show them the gay scene (read: safe). Ask for an old fashioned or mint julip here. Unlike most gay bars in the city, the bartenders will actually know how to make it here.
Walk ins welcome
if you're in need of a butch electric razor cut, this is the place to get it. These queens know the look that made SF porn stars famous. Just ask the owner, Joe who was in a few himself! Leather men, bears, and gay men in general welcome--the flags are posted on the wall. Just don't expect a shampoo. They've got the facilities, but isn't that a bit nelly?
Hot meat -- yes, please!
Omg this place has the best BBQ. Try the humungo Texas style Beef Rib (everything really is bigger in Texas!), fall off the bone tender Memphis style half rack, and not to be missed mac and cheese. Their banana pudding is also out of this world. Warning: this place is not for watching your waistline! It's for meat hungry bears!!! Woof ;-)
Everything you need and more
Hot lunch, paninis and sandwiches made before your eyes, prepared indian food, sushi, salads, a salad bar, hot soup, canned goods, cereal, natural bulk foods, real champagne, liqour, beer, cake, pies, deviled eggs, fresh coffee, cookies, raw steaks and seafood vacuum sealed, $20 cash back pos, salad bar, fresh flowers, fresh fruit, dried fruit, chips, dip, frozen lunches, detergent, pasta, crackers, energy drinks, rice crispy treats, skoal, fresh bread, otganic chocolates, local produce, and much, much more. Oh and did i mention they have chairs and tables outside?
Neighborhood gem
Gialina offers high end pizzas, creative salads, and comforting entres in a casual and cozy neighborhood environment. The first thing you'll notice about this place is that it is busy every night of the week and that staffers and customers interact like old friends. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth a daytime excursion if you're curious about one of San Francisco's smaller neighborhoods (and it's located convieniently next to BART).
