South Beach has lost its edge

South Beach used to be the "It" club but not anymore. For those of us have been going to South Beach since it was named Club Heaven before they had an accidental fire that cause the club to burn down, today it fails in comparison to how great of a club it used to be. The dj's have no edge or consistency with their music. Their madonnarama party is no longer eventful as the great dj's that they once had are a thing of the past. I recently went for the Lady Gaga dance party this past weekend and I was totally disappointed. It was nothing in comparison to a Madonnarama event. The dj was horrible. It was like he was experimenting with the music. The bartender to the rear of the club doesn't know how to make drinks and apparently overcharges customers. I could not believe that they were out of certain product to make mixed drinks!! Then I noticed all the NOW HIRING signs in the club for managers, bartenders in the rest rooms etc. Seems like the club is undergoing a recession still. At their recent Lady Gaga event, they only used the fog twice to cool us down on the dance floor, but it was too short and bittersweet and the fog didn't cover the entire dance floor. The club is only half full--not packed like it used to be. I only club for the music but South Beach has not delivered in the 4 times that I have been in 3 years. The atmosphere is not the same. The dj's are too mediocre for Saturday nights. That one shirtless bartender is by far not the best representation of South Beach! I am not a dj, but yes I have better music at home(dance music cd's even one that I got from a then great dj at South Beach for answering a Madonna question right prior to club closing years ago). Do you remember when South Beach was re-born? From Heaven to South Beach? When they had their World Premier Party and then their huge V.I.P party? A time when the lines outside would wrap around the building? A time when dj's were like God's and we the club goers were like angels and demons having nights of dance and decadence on the dance floor? Now most club goers that were South Beach faithfuls are apparently going else where. I would love to go for Gay Pride this weekend June 26, 2010 but my biggest fear is that they will have a "sorry" dj who may ruin my gay pride experience with bad music. I will be at the parade, but I will skip South Beach this year and house party with my friends. Unlike some people, who get in for free, their is no point in me wasting my hard earned money paying 20 or 15 dollars to enter a club if I am not going to enjoy myself. It's all about customer service, great drinks and dj's that know how to deliver great music. South Beach had lost its edje on all three.
