    Gem in Oak Cliff

Spectacularly renovated boutique hotel in emerging "gayborhood" of Oak Cliff. The property has a hip, urban feel and draws an eclectic crowd. Not just for guests, locals regularly frequent Bar Belmont, which offers stunning views of downtown Dallas. The new restaurant, Smoke, is a wonderful place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Just down Ft. Worth Avenue is Jack's Backyard, a fun place to have a beer with friends and listen to good music.

    Excellent Shopping

Though I personally prefer the aesthetics and store selection at NorthPark, the Galleria is the other heavy-hitter in a city known for shopping. There is significant duplication between the two shopping centers, especially among specialty stores (Gap, Banana, Abercrombie, etc.) and even some anchor store duplication (both have Macy's and Nordstrom...while the Galleria has Saks and NorthPark has Neiman Marcus and a Barney's flagship store).

    Flawless, Minimalist Temple to Shopping

NorthPark Center offers the very best shopping in Dallas. Opened in 1965 and the winner of numerous design and architecture awards, it underwent a stunning $235 million expansion completed in 2006 making it the largest shopping center in North Texas and is one of the top five shopping destinations in the country. NorthPark is known for its impressive displays of world-class art and sculpture.
