Eros is on e of the Best!

It's true Eros is in need of an update, but being trapped in the 80's is part of its gritty charm. I love the fact there are no private rooms, which makes hooking up more difficult. The space is big enough, has bunk beds, video areas, a steam room, small sauna, and adequate showers. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and welcome everyone with a smile. The clientele varies from young and hot to old and luke warm. It all depends. Thursday is the best time for the young guys (which I appreciate), because they offer a discount for guys under 25. Sunday is the most crowded, but Friday and Saturday are good too. I also have had luck on Tuesday nights. Whenever I'm in San Francisco, I head toward Eros and know I'll have a good time.

    Disappointing

I went to the Midtowne spa for the first time on Thursday, August 2nd for the first time. There was a live j.o. show featuring Spencer Whitman, who was very nice to all the guys packed into the tiny "theater" space. Midtowne Los Angeles is a very dated club, and everything feels circa 1980's. There is a very dark basement area that has lots of places to play. The first floor is where the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are located. The pool is large, but no one was in it. There is also two small outdoor areas adjacent to the pool. Although the jacuzzi/pool room is a newer addition, the exposed brick makes everything feel old. The second floor has a video lounge where benches face each other, and not the monitors. Watching one of the four screens (only 3 were working the night I was there) leaves you with a cramped neck. There is also the "theater" space which is otherwise empty, and a bunch of rooms. The layout is more like a hostel than a bath. The third floor has more rooms, and the sun deck has a small maze in the back. There were guys smoking pot up there, but that is about all. The whole club has really bad lighting. Some areas are to bright, and others way to dark. There is also no mood lighting to facilitate sexuality. It's all rather boring. Midtowne also has some very odd smells, very musty and damp. The staff was nice, and the $4 adjacent parking lot is great, especially if you plan on staying past 1a.m., because that's when street parking is prohibited. Unfortunately, the cliental leaves much to be desired. Midtowne L.A. draws an older out of shape crowd. Other than Spencer Whitman, there was not one guy I would touch, and no one around my age (mid 20's). The predominant ethnicities are Latino and Black. I'm not into either, so Midtowne was a complete waste of time and money. It's also in a fairly bad area known as the warehouse district of downtown Los Angeles. Lots of homeless drug addicts line the streets leading up to Kohler. The place has potential, but it needs a serious face lift and it needs to start attracting hot younger guys as well as White guys in general. I won't go back, especially since there are far better sex clubs in Los Angeles than this.
