It's a dance club with rainbow flags on the walls.

Nothing particularly great here. The clientele is a mix of androgynous 20-somethings and their girlfriends. I was told on my first visit that I acted too straight and had to pay cover. There is far too much silly drama surrounding this bar, but the owners largely bring it upon themselves. Go and dance, but don't expect to experience anything resembling a 'community' here.

    Has to be experienced

I have to admit, I have never been to a piano bar before, but after having a drink here I would definitely have been back if I stayed another day. Friendly staff and great entertainment!

    Stay in the pit.

The top floors are fairly standard modern "leatherbar" fare... But the basement is truly a special place that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Everything in the pit is cruisy, from the lighting, to the music, to the clientele. Be prepared to watch a parade of twinks wander through the room wearing white tennis shoes throughout the night, but it's not a big deal since they will be too intimidated to actually look in your direction if you're dressed appropriately for the bar. It's unfortunate that the pit is no longer filled wall-to-wall with men in leather, but it's not going to get any better if everybody sits at home on their computer to bitch instead of getting geared up and going out to cruise.

Kind of a letdown for Leather, but still good

I visited the DC Eagle a couple of years ago, and have to say that I was sort of disappointed. The music was good, the patrons and staff were nice, and the patio was a nice cruisy place... But there were no Leathermen in sight on a Saturday night. The guy I accompanied and myself felt out of place wearing full leather amongst the various different cliques of twinklords and their girlfriends. Maybe I expected too much from my visit to this famous Leatherspace?
