Quieter than Faultline
If the crowd or even the line to get in on Sundays at Faultline is a bit daunting, try the Eagle.Generally local group but they warm up after a while to newcomers.
Good Music, Drinks, and People
Have almost always had a good time here. Not being a local, it sometimes takes a while but sooner or later the patrons warm up to new people, and do it without an attitude. The staff is always friendly and efficient and the music rocks. I wish we had a bar like it close by in the burbs where we live.
My First Time
Motherlode was the first gay bar I ever entered and it was friendly and endearing. Mark, the bartender, always remembered us and often comped us drinks. But the music changed after a while and we found ourselves meandering to other bars on the boulevard. It is still a good old fashioned kind of gay bar.
Crowded but Friendly
We generally stop here for a starting off drink or two, even some nachos, before heading to Mickey's to dance. Generally meet nice people, the drinks during Happy Hour are cheap and being outside and watching the pedestrian traffic is a real treat.
Best Music in Town
Sunday beer bust is awesome. The music rocks and it is so crowded you can't help but cop a feel or get felt up. I just wish they had room for a dance floor. Old guys like me feel at home here, even if you aren't all leather and muscles.
