Attention RuPaul’s Drag Race superfans: if you aren’t listening to Race Chaser, are you really watching the show? Race Chaser is a podcast by former contestants Willam and Alaska, who give the low-down, behind-the-scenes, did-she-really-say-that gossipfest that people dream about while watching the show.
The duo goes scene-by-scene of each episode and gives their invaluable opinions of what was really going on behind all that on-camera drama. It’s like sitting in the Interior Illusions Lounge, back in the day when Untucked was in its original format, listening to the queens spill the tea, except you also get to listen to what the producers are whispering in that earpiece hidden behind RuPaul’s wig. If you don’t know what that last sentence means, this is not the podcast for you.
But wait! There’s more. The drag duo has even topped themselves, if that’s possible, with their new live show Race Chaser Live, which they will bring to San Francisco on Jan. 22, at Castro Theater. This show is less a live podcast (it isn’t recorded) and more a chance for them to just crack jokes, talk trash about whoever is on the current season of Drag Race All Stars, and make their fans laugh. They launched “Race Chaser Live” on Jan. 11 at The Theater at Ace Hotel, and somehow convinced the PR team as Oscar Mayer to let them roll up to the show in the Wienermobile.
Please note, Alaska is dressed in the colors of ketchup and mustard, natch.

Once inside the theater, they improved lots of one-liner jokes, welcomed their friend Jujubee, who lip synced a song, and for some unbeknownst reason they brought two miniature ponies onto the stage? But the best moments of the live show, as is always the case with their regular podcast, were when the two just chatted like good friends who got together to chat. Because behind the wigs and makeup and surgical enhancements, and the ponies, and the former Pit Crew guys who joined them (again, if you don’t know what that means…), the two queens are both very smart, very nice, and very funny guys.
The SF show starts at 7 PM, and tickets are on PeachesChrist.com. No official word on what they have planned, other than current Drag Race All Stars 4 contestant Trinity the Tuck making a special appearance. If they get the Wienermobile again, they should be sent to DC to negotiate the end of the federal shutdown because clearly, they can accomplish anything.
