BeefDip in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has continued to grow year upon year. It’s now one of the most popular, beachside bear festivals in the world, alongside the likes of Provincetown Bears Week and bear week in Sitges, Spain.
The 2020 event is today drawing to a close after another heavy week of partying, sunbathing and pool play. Fun activities included the popular Booze Cruise, ‘bearoke’, a foam party, and Black Ball at CC Slaughters. Most of the action took place at the Mantamar Beach Club and Blue Chairs Resort, in the heart of the resort town’s gay district.

Daytime excursions, for those feeling a little more active, included a zip line river tour and a Wild Trek Sierra Madre tour.
Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific coast in the state of Jalisco, is one of Mexico’s most popular destinations for LGBTQ travelers. January is peak season, with plenty to see and do – including whale watching and water sports.
More than anything else, it offers a chilled-out escape with plenty of gay bars and fellow gay visitors. And for BeefDip, it really does feel like the bears have taken over the resort’s ‘Zona Romantica’ neighborhood.
“The number of new people who have come to BeefDip this year is incredible,” says returning attendee Adam Robitaille (pictured below) from Radville, Saskatchewan, Canada.
“Volunteering with the event and meeting so many people has shown me how warm, friendly and diverse our community is. I’m super impressed as always about the welcoming and generous people of Vallarta.”

“Beef dip was awesome,” Taylor Cameron (@taylorcmrn) of Portland, Oregon, told GayCities. “We were only there for the first half but we had a really great time. It’s been tough adjusting back to life where there aren’t hundreds of sexy dudes all around me!”
“This is my first Beef Dip and I’m having a wonderful time,” said Joe Bernstein (@trivial_hirsute). “I’m loving the food, the men, and I’m experiencing a different culture than I would at an American bear event.”
