The athlete has been sharing photos and videos to Instagram, including plenty of images in figure-hugging speedos.

Kenworthy and a friend spent the first day in a cabin on stilts above water, before going island hopping. Kenworthy says it is a ten-day trip, so expect more beach shots and backflips into the ocean over the coming days.

Kenworthy wasn’t the only gaylebrity who chose to spend the New Year celebrations away from home.

Karamo Brown of Queer Eye took a vacation to Bali, Indonesia, which he described on Instagram as ‘paradise.’ The 39-year-old, father to two sons, also took the opportunity to show off his – quite frankly – incredible dad bod.

Fellow gay dad, Matt Bomer shared a rare family shot with husband Simon Halls and their kids. The family welcomed the New Year in Hawaii.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka celebrated the New Year in Costa Rica. Harris posted a video expressing gratitude for his family, friends, and health, and wishing everyone a happy 2020: “Live life to the fullest. It’s a good life… might as well make the most of it!”

Actor Luke Evans hung out with friends in Miami.

Brit singer Sam Smith posted a photo to Twitter of them enjoying some time away (it definitely doesn’t look like their hometown of London!). It’s unclear if the shot was taken over the New Year period, or from an earlier vacation: Smith’s caption simply read: “Mood 2020”
