Many cities claim to have the wildest Mardi Gras celebrations, but Australia’s lovely Sydney has a Mardi Gras with a twist: it doubles as their pride festival, which means they have twice the reason to celebrate.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras entails days upon days of parties, shows, balls, a queer film festival, a formal dance for gay and trans teens, all culminating in their world-famous parade that is described as “a bustling extravaganza that brings Sydney to a standstill.”

The shenanigans run from Feb. 14-March 1, 2020, with the parade on Saturday, Feb. 29, and yes that means 2020 is a leap year so Sydney Mardi Gras has three reasons to celebrate. Dua Lipa is scheduled to be the headline performer.
