Osaka Pride looked so fun, we had to post some pics

The Japanese city of Osaka turned it out for their pride celebration, on Oct. 13, showcasing the city as one of the premiere Asian destinations with a vibrant gay and trans scene. Their pride, called Rainbow Festa!, was a surprising success, considering the first day (Oct. 12) was cancelled when Typhoon Hagibis* blew threw Japan. Typhoons have a way of ruining everybody’s fun. But the party will go on in Osaka!

Gay and trans culture is not a topic that people discuss in Japan—not because of any particular prejudice, but because they just shy away from taking about sexuality in general. However, the big cities like Osaka, and the capital Tokyo, have thriving nightlife scenes with big nightclubs and countless little bars, where people hang out and dress in drag and sing karaoke and do their thing.

We found some photos of the pride festival, and added a few more of Osaka itself, because it is such a cool city. Please enjoy. And let’s all plan on taking a trip to Osaka because it looks fabulous.
