The best pride outfits, part III: WorldPride NYC

from instagram.com/cjenman

WorldPride 2019 in New York was as epic and exciting as expected, with a long weekend of shows all over the city and a parade filled with celebrities (on June 30) that was blessed by a beautiful and (mostly) sunny day. Then closing ceremonies in Times Square included performances by Jake Shears (above), Melissa Ethridge, Margaret Cho, and a long list of other speakers and musicians.

Approximately 5 million people attended the WorldPride events that weekend, including 100,000 people marching in the parade, and hundreds of thousands more watching from the streets and balconies along the route. Of course with such a huge celebration, people dressed for the occasion. Here is a selection of some of our favorite looks , and if you have some to share, put them in the comments below.

Billy Porter hosted the televised broadcast of the pride parade, which was shown in New York City and livestreamed on the web, while wearing this gown. He peppered the broadcast with bits of history learned from his own life experiences, and was also hilarious, of course.

Yes, Vanessa Williams did have her own float in the WorldPride 2019 parade, and yes she sang her old hits, and yes she did wear a rainbow maribou coat that fluttered in the breeze. And yes she looked amazing. That’s how you do it, kids.

She is wearing a replica of The Stonewall Inn on her head, and she marched in the parade with it. Here’s a wide shot:
