Bienvenido a Miami Beach

These photos will make you feel like you were at Miami Beach Pride but without the sunburn

Pride season is upon us! Miami Beach Pride hosted their annual fiesta en la playa this past weekend, and rumor has it the 2019 event was their biggest festival ever. We were there so we believe it: The sun was hot and so were the people strutting the beach with that Miami swagger, glistening with sunblock and glitter.

There were also lots of families at Miami Beach Pride: Being Mary Jane star Gabrielle Union brought her two stepsons, 11-year old Zion Wade and 17-year old Zaire Wade, and rode in the parade with City National Bank. The boys’ dad (and Union’s husband), Miami Heat basketball legend Dwyane Wade, couldn’t attend with them because he was playing a game in Toronto. But the young family met up with a friend, Miami Dolphins star Kenny Stills, who made an appearance at the festival wearing a “Diversify your crew” shirt.

Attending Miami Beach Pride was a family celebration for Zion, and he adorned himself with rainbow accessories and waved at the crowd from the parade route. Dwyane Wade posted Instagram photos and messages for his son, saying Zion “had his own cheering section” at the festival that day, and “We support each other with pride” with rainbow emojis. (The photos have been deleted from Wade’s Instagram account, but reposts are circulating.) There’s been no official statement from young Zion about what he was celebrating that day, but he looked like he was enjoying his rainbow unicorn horn, and maybe he will share more details when he is ready.

Here are some of our other favorite photos from the festival:
