5 glam Miami pools to practice the very serious art of Speedo watching & relaxation

Miami is synonymous with its warm sun and beautiful beaches, and there are lots of great spots to show off your favorite swimsuit.

The Speedo parade at 12th Street Beach in South Beach is a great choice for people watching, and Haulover Beach offers the fun chance to take that swimsuit off in all your glory. But there are also beautiful swimming pools all over the city, for sunbathers who would rather luxuriate on a lounge chair, and some are even better when the sun goes down and the pool bars light up.

Here are our Top 5 favorite pools in the Miami area, that offer sun, fun, and a touch of glamour to the very serious art of relaxation.

W South Beach
The W is one of the biggest and most glamorous hotels in South Florida, and the property has a pool to match. At night the crowd at the lobby bar spills onto the pool deck, with lots of little nooks and hideaways in the trees for private canoodling.

The Raleigh Miami Beach
In a city packed with iconic hotels, The Raleigh is one of the most famous properties along Collins Ave. strip, thanks to its classic Art Deco pool. The property is currently closed for a remodel, due to Hurricane Irma damage, but the pool has been a classic landmark since it was built in 1940, and its black and white tiles will be open to the public soon once again.

M0ndrian South Beach
The Mondrian’s hip and sexy pool deck faces Biscayne Bay, and guests enjoy the location directly along the water. They also host popular yoga events on the deck, with everyone on their mats facing the beautiful bay.

Venetian Pool

The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is an old rock quarry that was built into a public pool, and is filled with new water from an underground aquifer each day. But don’t fear the environmental implications: the water is drained back into the aquifer, where it can cycle through the filtration process naturally and sustainably. The coral rock structures form beautiful waterfalls and grottos, making this one of the most popular swimming spots for visitors and locals in Coral Gables. Just be ready: the water is a little chilly!

The Standard Miami
Don’t be fooled by the empty pool chairs in this photo. There is always something going on at The Standard, which hosts parties and events throughout the year. Grabbin’ Balls Bingo happens Sunday evenings, featuring various local drag hostesses. Guests love the spa, with its famous (coed) hammam, and the north-facing pool deck on Biscayne Bay features some of the most stunning views anywhere in the city.

If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of some dolphins swimming by.
