Another weekend of gay debauchery likely to ensue!

Though it’s a hotly contested issue, let’s face it, America’s biggest cities are pretty damn gay, and getting gayer all the time. Need proof? No, you don’t.

But if you did, here’s a sampling of some of the parties and events slated for this weekend from the GayCities event calendarthat show the best and, well, not-so-best of what our colorful community has to offer.

Friday, May 13: Take your pick–class or crass? In Chicago, you have a chance to redo your horrible, scarring prom experience with the Do-Over Prom at Hydrate. With any luck you’ll finish the night without having to explain to your date that “this is the first time this has happened, really.” Not in the mood to rent a tux? San Francisco’s popular Friday night tranimal den “Something” has a very special guest, Christeene, set to perform a set of her nail-scratchinglyterrible music. We can’t wait. If that strays too far south from your idea of the perfect night, you may want to check out the 2 year anniversary of Rockit in New York. Janice Dickinson will be there, so why shouldn’t you? Don’t answer that.

Saturday, May 14San Francisco’s GLAAD Media Awards are sure to be somewhere between a seven part Ken Burns documentary on baseball and a nap, so we suggest you find somewhere to go after the event. Shake things up with the launch of Red Meat at Club 8, ’cause you know you love some firecrotch. Down in Lala Land, the Faultline is set to re-open after some…ahem…code violations (read: nudity) with the return of Brutus. In other bear related news, the New York Eagle is holding an Urban Bear Rooftop BBQ to mark the eve of Sunday’s New York Bear Fair. Grr get ’em.

Sunday, May 15: If bears aren’t your thing but you’re near NYC, we highly recommend checking out the AIDS Walk in Central Park. That is, if it isn’t raining…Gay Day at Hurricane Harbor will yield plenty of California sun-kissed bodies, and it’s a rare chance of meeting circuit queens during the daylight. Also hinged on good weather is the party-on-the-streets free for all that is Bay to Breakers in San Francisco, perhaps the best place on earth to check out drunken, half-naked straight dudes. Afterwards the Castro is sure to be hopping, with a few after parties already in the works.
