Few things are as evocative of romance as a quiet, starlit stroll on a soft, sandy beach. Alternatively, perhaps romance to you and your cutie means exploring the world’s natural wonders and soaking up the sun along the way. Whether you’re roaming the tranquil Caribbean dunes with your soul mate or looking for love along the glimmering coastline of Greece, here are some of the most romantic beaches to embrace passion and enchantment.

We could spend all day talking about the incredible shores that line the coast of San Juan, but we’re going further afield, exploring this tropical paradise. What could be more romantic than a night kayak through glowing water?
Puerto Rico is one of the only places on the planet where you and your date can experience bio-luminescence, a natural effect that, when you interact with the water, microorganisms begin to glow, creating a sea of turquoise stars. Is kayaking not your thing? Would you rather feel like a beautiful mermaid and swim amongst the mystical lights? Head to La Parguera, a few hours away from San Juan, the only bio bay that permits swimming. For a romantic sail, rent a ‘glass bottom’ boat to witness the beauty without getting wet.
Getting sweet in Thailand
Thailand is home to some of the world’s most pristine and iconic sands. Additionally, plenty of LGBTQ+-friendly bars and hotels, make trip planning a breeze!
When you’re looking for a day full of culture, food, and cuddling with your cutie in the sand, check out Surin Beach. Delicate white sand and gently lapping waves are a short walk away from luxury resorts, restaurants, and nightlife. Although it’s close to all the action, find a stretch of sand, and this secluded spot will feel all your own in no time.
Romancing in Merida
Although Merida is farther inland than Cancun or Playa del Carmen, there are so many breathtaking wonders and historic sites to explore that we had to put it on the list. Ancient Mayan ruins dapple this jungle paradise and provide ample adventure and education.
Not necessarily a beach, the Yucatan’s collection of cenotes is as alluring and enchanting as any sandy shore. These ancient limestone pools formed thousands of years ago and now provide a captivating and romantic destination for a dip. Pack a picnic and dive in the crystalline freshwater pools. It’s a date your partner will never forget.
On the other side of the peninsula, Tulum is a mellow and welcoming town with gorgeous beaches and a few cenote destinations of its own! Not to mention, some picturesque beaches are well worth the airfare.
Getting cute in Greece
Unsurprisingly, one of the Mediterranean’s LGBTQ+ hotspots is on our list. With thousands of seaside spots, some clothing-optional, plenty of gay-friendly businesses, and incredible adventure around every corner, Greece is a must-visit for a couple with a bit of wanderlust.
There are plenty of white sands, but we’re highlighting a hidden gem that takes a little effort to find. Only accessible by boat, a charter will take you to the secluded Shangri-la of Navagio ‘Shipwreck’ Beach in Zakynthos. Tucked away amongst the islands’ natural wonders are secret beaches just for you and your date to explore.
