Shaping up to be one of the most fun, thought-provoking and inspiring dates on the international LGBTQ women’s calendar, ClexaCon is set to return for its fourth outing this spring. The event will run April, 16-19 at The Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ClexaCon is a media and entertainment convention aimed at all LGBTQ women, trans and non-binary fans and creators.

If you care about diversity in entertainment, want to geek out with fellow L Word and Booksmart fans, debate at length over queer representation in Hollywood, or network with others trying to get a break in the entertainment industry, this is the festival for you.

This year’s event will feature panel discussions, a film festival, meet and greet sessions, plus workshops with industry tastemakers and influencers. It’s expected to attract between 2,000-3,000 attendees.

The subject of diversity in the entertainment industry has never been more of a hot topic, and although LGBTQ representation is higher than ever, we all know that it could still be better.

“We believe that it is vital to support and nurture LGBTQ+ women and non-binary creators so that they are able to write authentic stories and push for better representation in all aspects of the entertainment industry moving forward,” said Danielle Jablonski, one of ClexaCon’s co-directors and producers.

The event also boasts a fun side, and participants are encouraged to dress up and express their fandom for the annual cosplay contest. This year’s event will also feature a showcase of LGBTQ+ musicians, a cabaret event, karaoke, burlesque show, ‘speed friending,’ and several late-night parties (don’t forget your swimming costume for the pool party!).

Talent booked to appear at this year’s event includes Kate Moennig (The L Word, Ray Donavon), Leisha Hailey (The L Word), Sarah Shahi (The L Word, Person of Interest), Amber Benson (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, The Guild), and Jaime Murray (Warehouse 13, Spartacus), among many others.

VIP tickets for this year’s event have already sold out, but standard tickets cost $160 for three-days access to all the panels, workshops, film festival screenings and most of the parties and cabaret events (accommodation must be booked separately).

“Fun, friends, fandom and family,” is what first-time attendees can expect, ClexaCon spokesperson Mona Elyafi told GayCities. “ClexaCon is about more than just fighting for LGBTQ+ representation, though that is a big part of it. It’s also about bringing our fandom family together, from across the world or even just across town.

“It’s a space to live your best life while meeting your favorite actors, directors, creators, and friends you may have only known online before.”
