6 travel-worthy Labor Day events for soaking up summer

Before we send summer a final goodbye kiss, there are a few events that are worth getting out of town for.

With something for everyone, the only decision harder than re-arranging your calendar at the last minute is deciding which of these events to attend. From Southern Decadence in New Orleans to Bear Week in Sitges, these are the travel-worthy events for Labor Day 2018.

Bears Week Sitges 2018 - September Edition

Get out of town and onto the beaches of Sitges for an 11-day bear extravaganza. With over 5000 bears, chasers and admirers visiting Spain's seaside gay destination, things are sure to get hairy, in the best possible way.

Culture Club, B-52s and Thompson Twins

Pull on your best 80s garb and prepare to dance the night away at Chicago's Ravinia Festival. Culture Club will be singing their new wave classics along with everyone's favorite "Love Shack" trio B-52s during an outdoor evening of nostalgic family-friendly fun.

Wigstock, the iconic drag festival that dominated drag and LGBTQ culture from 1985 to 2001, is being revived. The grand opening on Saturday, September 1 will be a day-long extravaganza atop the roof at Manhattan's Pier 17. Throw on some fake lashes and let your inner diva out!

Southern Decadence

New Orleans' largest LGBTQ event of the year happens Labor Day weekend and if the idea of wandering around the Big Easy mingling with visitors from all over the map sounds like fun, this is for you. Southern Decadence starts on Thursday and the big parade is Sunday morning. Ladies night is Saturday at Eiffel Society.

Splash Days

Texas is gearing up for its largest gay dance party and over the long weekend multiple must-do festivities will take place. From the main dance event on Saturday night to the clothing-optional Get Wet party on Sunday, the shenanigans are overflowing during Splash Days in Austin.
