DJ Drew G Sets Fire to DC, LA, NYC and Little ol’ Asbury Park

DJ Drew G is known for his twists and turns and jumps inside the booth. It’s physically impossible not to move along with the beats, mixes and mash-ups he creates. He infuses pop vocals and makes the beat harder to come up with his signature “Dirty Pop” sound.

He spun last Saturday night at legendary music producer Shep Pettibone’s Asbury Park, NJ nightclub, Paradise. Drew G is a producer in his own rite, too, mixing for the likes of Lady Gaga, Pink, Britney and Mya. He’s shooting a reality show pilot this fall for the Here Network with his pal fashion model Ronnie Kroell.

And he’s only 27.

When he’s not reporting for Billboard Magazine or playing one of 10 instruments he’s mastered, Drew criss-crosses the U.S. to his residencies at Cobalt in Washington, DC (his favorite); MJ’s and Micky’s in Los Angeles; g Lounge, The Eagle, and GYM Sportsbar in New York City; Voyeur in Philadelphia; and, of course, Paradise in Asbury Park.

Dale and Scott sat down with Drew before his gig last week. You can hear the interview they taped (on his bed, no less!) last week at Asbury Park’s super-gay Empress Hotel at the GayCities sponsored It’s A Gay World or on iTunes.
