Joy in California: Prop 8 Deemed Unconstitutional

The California District Court ruled today in favor of the opponents of Proposition 8, the 2008 California ballot measure that stripped same-sex couples from the right to marry.

Judge Vaugh Walker ruled that “because proposition 8 is unconstitutional under the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses, the court orders entry of judgement permanently enjoining its enforcement.”

You can get in on the jubilation this ruling has stirred up in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, or just dance on your lawn and turn on the hose. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy this momentous day as prepare for the long appeal process as gay marriage cases wind their way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

We will post updates with pictures from celebrations as they come about….
