love song to Saint Louie

Country crooner Brandon Stansell is the star of St. Louis Pride

Southern heartthrob and country singer Brandon Stansell will perform three shows during St. Louis Pride this weekend, notably the Official Tower Grove Pride After Party on Saturday, June 23, at Atomic Cowboy.

The Nashville-born, LA-based crooner gave GayCities his take on what makes St. Louis Pride a hit, and boy does Brandon know hits.

What do you like about St. Louis Pride?

I performed at St. Louis Pride last year but I’ve still got a lot to learn. Excited to see what else this city has to offer. I feel like the Pride Festivals in the Southeast are particularly special, and necessary. I always enjoy coming back home and performing for the people that aren’t always offered LGBTQ entertainment year-round like some of the coastal cities.

Favorite Pride cocktail?

At one of my last shows in Nashville the bar named a drink after me called ‘The Stansell Still’ — they knew I was a big fan of whiskey and wine (which they combined) and obviously love any drink that is pink.

Which Pride party is a must?

The official after-party for Tower Grove Pride at The Bootleg which I will be performing at, of course.

Your favorite spot for the Parade?

Anywhere on Market St. should be a perfect view.

Favorite gay spots?

Just John is the best spot for me followed closely by Bastille for a wilder night. My favorite chill place is Thaxton Speakeasy for a low-key night with great cocktails.

Brandon, right, wears “Country Loud, Country Proud” tank top.

Sunday brunch?

I hear Cafe Madeleine is divine.

Best places to eat?

Crown Candy Kitchen – their BLT is AMAZING.

Favorite hotel?

I try to stay as close to the fun as possible.

What projects are you currently working on?

My new single “For You” will be released on June 28th. The music video coming out July 12th features a very special guest from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
