We first learned of Israel-based artist Adi Nes when his exhibition The Village came to the Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City a few years ago. As a gay man, Nes has always felt like a stranger in the mainstream Israeli culture yet he chooses to work by creating visual narratives in his home country. Nes has become an established force in the art community in the United States, known for his provocative and deeply moving images addressing issues of Israeli masculine identity.
