At the stroke of midnight this morning, same-sex marriage was officially legalized in Hawaii, the final stop on a journey that began over 20 years ago.
At the Sheraton Waikiki, six couples who had been together for a cumulative 93 years, exchanged vows in a ceremony organized by Citizens for Equal Rights, GLBT Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaii, Honolulu Pride, Integrity Hawaii, PFLAG Oahu, Pride Alliance Hawaii, Pride@Work Hawaii in conjunction with the Sheraton:
Donna Gedge and Monica Montgomery (35 years), Paul Perry and Gary Bradley (11 years), Saralyn and Isajah Morales (four years), Shaun Campbell and Tony Singh (five years), Richard J. Rosehill and Shawna P. Okami (32 years) and Keola Akana and Ethan Wung (six years).
