Hold The Gay Phone: Is Lady Gaga Giving A Surprise Speech At Tonight’s NYC Pride Rally?

gaga-telephoneRumor has it, Mother Monster will claw her way into the public eye for her first major appearance since undergoing hip surgery in March at tonight’s Kick Off Rally for New York City Pride.

Lady Gaga will make a speech at the rally, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Pandora Boxx at Pier 26 tonight, somewhere between 7pm and 10pm, an anonymous source told The Huffington Post.

Gags has been rather gagged as of late, maintaining what’s been a rarity for her since exploding onto the scene five years ago: a subtle profile. But an appearance at Pride makes sense on so many levels. Good old Steph Germanotta is a native New Yorker and a vocal supporter of LGBT rights — she broke her Twitter silence leading up to the Supreme Court decisions on DOMA and Prop 8 — and with her ARTPOP album slated to be released later this year, her speech would make for one hell of a start to a comeback. And you know the gays love a diva comeback.

Speaking of which, if the Lady doth show up, she’d better be prepared to Cher the spotlight. The legend’s sequined presence looms large over NYC Pride with her eagerly anticipated performance at Sunday’s Dance on the Pier. Now, she and Gaga had a recent falling-out over their proposed duet, leading us to wonder and hope that the ladies are near to kissing and making up. There probably won’t be any tongue involved, though — unless Madonna’s making an appearance too. At which point the heavens would open up and the gays would ascend into heaven, as Whitney Houston welcomes us with open arms and a flawless rendition of “I Will Always Love You.”

It’s in the Bible, look it up.
