Spice Girls Stage Mini-Reunion For Premiere Of “Viva Forever” Musical

The Spice Girls are approaching their new jukebox musical, Viva Forever, with the same attitude they view their music: “If people criticize it, we don’t care because we love it!” said Melanie Chisholm, a.k.a. Mel C, a.k.a. Sporty Spice.

The show’s official opening was today at London’s Piccadilly Theatre, where the ’90s girl group was on hand to celebrate. Chisholm arrived on the red carpet alongside former bandmates Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown.  Victoria Beckham came later, with her handsome hubby and brood in tow.

Naturally.

Written by AbFab creator Jennifer Saunders, Viva Forever uses Spice Girls songs like “Wannabe” and ”Spice Up Your Life” to impart the story of four girls whose friendship is strained when they make it onto a reality TV competition.

“They’ve already cried and laughed a lot when we’ve taken them through the story. Who knows what will happen tonight,” said the show’s producer, Judy Craymer, before the curtain went up.
