    Love this Bar!!

440 Castro is my preferred bar when visiting S.F. Strong drinks, great music, hottest bar staff in the Castro with manners to match. Cientele is down to earth and friendly. Big thumbs up for the private bathroom when you may have brought along a lady friend or a pee shy. guy.

    Comfortable and Unassuming....

Trunks is a nice change of pace in an area where big clubs and expensive ultra-lounges rule. 2 pool tables in the back are in near constant use and the regulars here take their pool very seriously. Bartenders are quite possibly the best looking and friendliest in town. Big, open window in the front makes for great people watching. Diverse crowd - young asian boys to old white men and everything in between.

    No frills, no attitude...

The Gold Coast is the epitomy of a good neighborhood bar. Strong drinks at a fair price, friendly bartenders, very active pool table and video games. Brand new LCD TV's usually tuned to a local sports game or news. Only drawback is the alley behind the bar has its share of hustlers and druggies that can sometimes cause a disturbance. Otherwise, a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.

    Overrated...

By all means visit the Abbey if you enjoy overpriced drinks served by overly rude bartenders. The prettier you are the quicker you'll be served. And don't even think of applying for a bartender position unless you're caucasian. Plenty of non-whites picking up dishes and glasses and cleaning up however. Skip it.
