I am in hospitality and love great food whether it's Striped Bass or a word of mouth Italian spot in South Philly. I have been fortunate in my life to have been capable to experience some pretty good things, whether it be a city, that hotel or those restaurants and stores. I hope you trust my judgement. CHEERS ALWAYS!!!

CLOSED: The Raven Hotel in Philadelphia
***** a timeless classic! A feast for the sences...
First to Review - April 29, 2007 - Visited: April 2007
I Love The Raven! Where else can you arrive for check in, be shown to your "suite" (they are a wee sparse, but they're all suites). Only to relax, unwind then go to the dining room for a cocktail(ICEY COLD) and paruze the thoughtful and well selected wine list for dinner. After dinner a peaceful cordial poolside...only to hear the music start to bump in the ROCKIN' nite club. Follow this up with a great sleep and a brunch like you read about! I am sorry if I sound paid or biased, but the place DOES NOT SUCK!!! Cheers and do yourself a favor! P/S Smaller rooms are just as comfortable.

Uncle's Upstairs Inn Hotel in Philadelphia
***** conveniently located in Plilly's "GAY GHETTO"

A quiet, unassuming little B&B in the heart of Philadelphia's historic Arts District. Two blocks in "any" direction, to HIGH END shopping, naturally Tiffany's, and renown restaurants, as well as theaters and the World Class Kimmel Center. I think it's a great choice for the price and it's locale, and there is a fun little quiet bar by the same owners on the first floor to start your evening off and end it on the way back in. The rooms are very tastefully appointed for the value!

Uncles Bar/Club in Philadelphia
***** great for conversation with a stranger

I think Uncles is excellent. the croud does range a little higher in age but I would say more like 30 and up, which can be refreshing. On good nights you can meet a hot "straight" guy there, it's the kind of place that makes them comfortable and relaxed. Trust me, I lived close by in my 20's. HA HA!! It is also a nice place to chat. The bar is oval, which I LOVE! Go and have a good time, it's full of positive energy. Oh, and the bartenders are superb! ;)
