This place gets busy late. There is a cabaret bar (usually with drag performances) and a disco in the next room. Can get very packed at weekends. Attracts an up for it crowd of mixed ages and backgrounds.

Popped in out of interest during a visit to New York on holiday. Place was busy on a Tuesday night at about 10pm. Crowd appeared extremely trendy and sophisticated. Looked like a good place to go on a date. I tried to get a drink at both downstairs and upstairs bars, but the bartenders did not seem particularly interested in taking my order so I left.

MatthewA summed it up nicely. Friendly neighbourhood bar showing Red Sox game on the screen. Seemed to be busier than the other bars nearby. Bar tender made me feel very welcome.

Went there on a Tuesday evening at about 9pm and the place was very busy with a mixed crowd of ages and backgrounds. Yankees and Mets games plus US tennis open on the screens. If only London had a place like this for gay sports fans. Love NYC!

Went there on Friday night. Was busy from about 11:00 pm with a mixed crowd including quite a lot of asians. Had an enjoyable time. I went there on Sunday evening and the place was dead, however.

Went there on a Wednesday night. Arrived about 10:30 and the place was busy with a mixed range of ages and backgrounds including college students. Quite a lot of people there alone.

Atmospheric venue on three floors. Diverse clientele including a fair sized oriental crowd (although not to the same extent as Kudos). Upstairs bar offers views straight down Old Compton Street (if you can get a seat). At the time of writing has cheap drinks promotions early evening. Open late.

This venue comprises a downstairs bar, front courtyard (hence the name of the bar), plus a loft bar upstairs with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The loft is cosy with original wooden beams and the balcony can be useful in summer for surveying the clientele.
The Royal Vauxhall Tavern Bar/Club in London

Looks quite uninviting from the outside. This is a quirky venue in what is becoming a gay village in Vauxhall. Quite gritty and down to earth. But it is an institution for some and they have some quality cabaret acts.

Trendy venue on several floors and views over Soho square. Intimate atmosphere makes it good for couples.
The Duke of Wellington Bar/Club in London

I'm not sure whether this place is still gay or has reverted to being a straight venue. Whatever, given its location it still seems to attract its fair share of gay blokes.

Small bar on Old Compton Street. Good for a drink or two in the evening. Attracts an eclectic crowd. I've never been quite able to see the particular attraction of the place, but it seems to have carved out a niche.

This is a trendy bar with huge windows so you can see who is passing by. It attracts a youngish fashionable crowd. Lots of suits during the week.
Kudos Bar/Club in London

This bar has a cafe-bar type atmosphere upstairs, while downstairs there is intimate seating and occasional cabaret performances. Attracts a predominately Oriental crowd and (as they say) their admirers... Busy most nights and packed at weekends.
Ku Bar Bar/Club in London

This bar attracts a young teen/twenty-something crowd. Quite busy during the week and packed at weekends.
G-A-Y Bar Bar/Club in London

Busy most nights. This is a relatively new place by the owners of the famous GAY club night. It attracts a mostly young crowd. Has several bars on different levels and plays music videos, which is good if you're on your own.
Comptons Bar/Club in London

This is a well established venue and perhaps the best known London gay pub. It is busy pretty much every night of the week. Slightly older crowd perhaps and quite cruisy as the evening progresses.
The Black Cap Bar/Club in London

This place is a bit out of town, but very close to Camden Town tube. It has a nice enough bar upstairs plus a roof terrace outside. Downstairs is a well known club/cabaret bar that gets busy at weekends.

This is a good place to go to pick up. It is straightforward, unpretentious and unfancy. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is pleasant enough.
