Number One (#1) Fifth Ave. Bar/Club in San Diego
***** On of my favorite places to visit
Posted: January 07, 2008
Every time I visit San Diego, #1 on 5th is on the agenda. This place is fun, down to earth, and the bartenders and staff are friendly and engaging. I highly encourage everyone to visit this quaint "cheers" style pub while in San Diego.

The Loft Bar/Club in San Diego
***** Friendly Staff

This is simply a great local establishment with fun, friendly, and inviting staff! I stopped in for a few cocktails and had a wonderful time. The locals were quick to engage me in conversation and the staff equally friendly and welcoming. If you're visiting the San Diego gay community of Hillcrest definitely make The Loft part of your plans.

The Brass Rail Bar/Club in San Diego
***** Great Place for visitors
Posted: January 07, 2008
I was in San Diego for the Christmas Holiday and visited Brass Rail. The bartenders were extremely friendly and the place was packed with hot latinos (saturday night). I don't think there is a better place to be in San Diego's gay community on a Saturday night! I'll definitely return again and again!

Pecs Bar/Club in San Diego
***** Don't waste your time
Posted: January 07, 2008
I visited Pecs three times over the period of a week, both during off nights and over the weekend. I consistently received rude or indifferent service. It was almost like the bartenders simply don't care what you think. The patrons were all very clickish and to themselves. I'm a decent looking gay guy but not a single person besides the doorman was even cordial. I'll never visit this place again!

Bourbon Street Bar/Club in San Diego
***** Not so great
Posted: January 07, 2008
I recently visited Bourbon Street and I'll have to say that I was not overly impressed. The bartenders in the back seemed to be overly engaged with their personal friends and less with those of us visiting for the first time. It too a prohibitively long time to get a dring and the bartender wasn't even friendly. The crowd was fun so I would go back for the crowd but the owner(s) should make the staff aware of what customer service is about.

Lei Lounge Restaurant in San Diego
***** Great for small groups
First to Review - January 07, 2008 - Visited: December 2007
I visited Lei Lounge during a recent visit to San Diego. The food was great, and the service likewise but the accommodations were cramped for a group of ten. We were crammed into one of their large booths and little was done to ensure we were comfortable. I really loved the food but it seemed to be tapas style and for a large group it quickly becomes prohibitively expensive to order and share successfully. The plates trickled out of the kitchen, usually with two to four bites per plate. This was far too slow, and inadequate for a large party. My recommendations is stay away for large parties, but for up to four I think it's a wonderful place with a great atmosphere. All of the staff was wonderful but the kitchen does tend to be slow on the delivery. I would go back with a much more intimate group but never again with a large one.

Baja Betty's Restaurant in San Diego
***** Great food and very friendly people
Posted: January 07, 2008 - Visited: December 2007
I recently spent a week in San Diego for the Christmas holiday. During that time my friends were working so I had lots of time on my hands. I had already met the primary bar tender, Paco, on my first day so I went back. Well, it turned into a daily event due to the extremely friendly atmosphere and good food. Every day I had the fish taco platter and a couple of beers (or more). Paco was extremely friendly and fun to talk to and made my visit ever more pleasant. I met one of the owners, Chris, who was also very nice and immediately friendly. Ricardo (Junior) the host was hot, and also friendly. I would strongly recommend Baja Betty's to anyone visiting San Diego. I definitely will return at every opportunity.
