Mike Frank, 45. I'm a lot of fun and a genuinely nice person!
BORING
Went twice last week and each time there were very few people and those that were there were all tourists (white guys, mostly) and kept to themselves in their little cliques. The bar is very run-down but it's on a nice outdoor patio right on the beach. However, I wasn't there very late each time so am not sure if the crowd picks up later but I kinda doubt it. The only plus is that the beach behind it is supposedly gay-central during the day (along with Ocean Park Beach).
Cool!
It's definitely not your usual leather/bear/daddy bar but as far as gay bars go, it was my favorite in San Juan. Very hot guys, including locals, grace the place, the music was good, and the atmosphere/architecture is cool. It's also right down the street from Krash and around the corner from Cento and VIP so it's a good area to bar-hop. I can't wait to go back!
SCARY!
It's actually called Tia Maria's Liquor Store but is, in fact, a bar that also sells to-go alcohol. I was told by a gay local bartender that this is the place people to after work or in early evenings, so I gave it a try. It was scary! I don't think there was one gay guy there besides my friend and I and it was empty. I was afraid we were going to get robbed! Don't know what the night scene is like but don't go in the early evening!
Not too shabby
I liked the atmosphere and decor. Was there on a Sunday night. Not too busy but gradually got busier as the night went on. Not all parts are open on Sundays but it still was cool.
It is still open
Juniors is closed but VIP is open! I did not get a chance to check out VIP, however, so can't tell you what it was like!
